Corrugated sheets or cardboard are easy to decorate by printing patterns and graphics on them.
Printing on cardboard boxes:
Packaging boxes printed made with cardboard have following orienting options.
Lithographic printing:
Most of the companies prefer litho printing pattern on the boxes. In this process before giving cardboard a box shape a printed sheet is glued over it. This cannot be done directly on the box. This printing sheet hinges the box and you can bend it into any shape without damaging the shape of box. Litho paper may be printed gloss or matte according to product. To cover the whole box label is applied on it. It is also called offset printing and done on lighter materials. It is considered as good quality printing on paper stock.
Flexographic printing:
It is like rubber stamp printing and can be done directly on the box. For those companies which require simple printing this method is perfect. This printing is suitable for short screen and usually valid for 65 lines screen unlike the litho which have 150 line screens. Printing plate’s arte use to print on wide area and it coast you less. Price of plate is charge per inch. If you add more graphics then price increase per inch automatically.
Silk screen:
When printing quantity material is low then flexo printing become coasty for you. To overcome this problem silk screen printing is applied. It is modern and clear printing technique. In this process graphics are first made on the positive of film and then mount on screen. Screen in turn is coated with emulsions. Then this apparatus id exposed to light for few minutes. After that film is removed and screen is being washed with pressure water. After washing the emulsion on the screen give stencil of artwork. This screen then undergoes painting with desire colors. Colors are hand mix in this and are so close to originals. These techniques suits well for non porous and smooth surface.
Hot stamping:
In this process a plastic roll is dipped in metallic silver or gold color and transfers it on the material by using heating die. Your design artwork is mounted on the colored foil of roll. Which is then transfer to the material

In most cases only one king of printing technique is enough but there are no hard and fast rules of printing. Sometime for more decorations more than one printing technique is also use.
